Here are pictures from the home demolition. I was told all that wood is going to be used to build new homes in Kanata. We just moved here in May 2013 so never had a chance to visit these homes but we got a tour of them ‘from the inside out’.
So that’s it. The homes have come down. Sad to see them go but excited for what comes next. And not a bad view of the river!
Those came down so fast. Apparently these were heritage homes that the Lowertown Community Association tried to protect. There is a great PDF article I found in the Cathcart Muse prepared in 2011 by Marc Aubin and Nancy Chenier. In it you can see the images of the homes which were destroyed and read up about their past occupants. Didn’t know I lived in a specific area called ‘The Wedge” and that this place has so much history!
Wow!! Demolition started on the new condos being built next to my house and the homes next door are coming down. Really cool to watch from so close, we’ve got a great view right in our backyard. It’s also a little scary though. Our journey begins…
