it seems to me that what is needed is a bond to be posted by any builder/developer to compensate for any damage to adjacent properties.
Contractors have to post bonds for many aspects of a development – so a bond would be compatible with standard building practices.
It would be a groundbreaking accomplishment if it could be pulled off.
I understand that other cities, like Toronto have implemented such processes. It requires developers to post these bonds prior to a building’s approval. Let’s work with City and Council to make this happen in Ottawa.
